Did you know that Barceloneta has existed for just 3 centuries? Before, it was a small island, nowadays a neighbourhood recovered from the sea. During this “Nearby Experience”, we'll discover the district's past and present. We'll roam through a succession of strict grid pattern streets typical of a new suburb, marvelling at its modernist buildings, others beautifically decorated, and the market covered with solar panels. We'll learn who was "el Negro de la Riba", whom children call "hombre de saco" and we'll come across frogs, dragons, sirens and hands on the facades of buildings. We'll find out where Mr. Lesseps - the man responsible for the Suez and Panama Canal projects - lived. The experience ends with a walk along the beach, delighting at the large sculptures dotted around the neighbourhood.
Meeting point: Palau de Mar
